Following a few simple steps for care and maintenance will ensure your solid surface countertops will serve you for many years… beautifully.

  • Do not place hot pots or pans on your countertops, use hot pads or trivets in between your cookware and solid surface countertops to avoid yellowing and heat damage.
  • Always use a separate cutting board, never use your solid surface countertop as a cutting board.
  • Protect your solid surface countertops by avoiding contact with strong chemicals like paint removers and oven cleaners. If contact does occur, rinse repeatedly with clean water.
  • Daily cleaning only requires a damp cloth and a mild cleanser, never use industrial strength cleaners such as drain cleaner, oven cleaner, or toilet cleaner which are designed for other purposes. No sealer or waxing is ever required.
  • Solid surface countertops can be disinfected by wiping them with one part water and one part bleach. Rinse afterward completely with clean water.
  • Food dye, tea, fruit drinks and other liquid stains can be removed with full strength bleach, followed up by a general cleanser flushed with water. Do not let the bleach remain on the surface for more than five minutes.
  • Cigarette burns, nicotine stains, scorch marks, knife cuts, gouges, chips, etc, be sure to contact Castle Rock Countertops for the correct way to deal with your issue.
  • Hard water deposits on the solid surface countertop can be easily removed with ordinary vinegar.
  • Red wine spills and stains can be easily removed with denatured alcohol and a cotton rag, using circular wiping motion when cleaning up the spill.
  • Nail polish can be removed from solid surface material with non-acetone nail polish remover.
